Mother Baby Unit: Fathers Group
Fathers Group
The effectiveness of the Masada program relies heavily on families working together as a team so those consistent messages are given to children. Therefore the father’s participation in the program is vital and we strongly encourage all fathers to attend the father’s session.
WHEN: 8.30 am on Thursday Morning
WHERE: Mother Baby Unit
Dr Sam Margis, a Consultant Psychiatrist with many years’ experience with the Mother Baby Unit and fathers, runs a group each week.
Becoming a father gives rise to many deep feelings. Talking about how it feels to be a father can be helpful & enjoyable. Issues about supporting partners, balancing work, family and other interests, deciding what sort of father you want to be and being introduced to some aspects of positive active parenting for infants are some of the issues discussed.
Fathers are also encouraged to be involved in education regarding parenting and settling skills. You are welcome to attend the sleep/settling group and staff would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
To make arrangements to attend the fathers group please phone the Mother Baby Unit on (03) 9038 1414.
