All parents who are booked to have their baby at Masada Private Hospital are offered the opportunity to attend birth and parenting sessions, run by accredited Midwives. All sessions are based on adult education principles, and as a result we keep session sizes small.
Early Pregnancy Class:
$50 per couple
Monday 7 – 9 pm
It is recommended that you attend this class between 14– 20 weeks
Presented by physiotherapist who is a specialist in Woman’s Health. |
This presentation covers concepts and practical advice in the following areas:
- Clarification of “what is safe” with exercise
- Essential exercises aimed at prevention of musculoskeletal problems, comfort positions at night.
- Basic continence advice & Relaxation techniques

Breast feeding class:
Alternate Monday 10 am – 12 pm
It is recommended that you attend this class between 32 – 36 weeks
Presented by Certified Lactation Consultant
The class provides mothers with additional information to the basics covered in all other Childbirth Education Classes |
This presentation covers concepts and practical advice in the following areas:
- The miracle of the breast and how breastfeeding works
- Nutrition and lactation, Initiating and establishing breast feeding.
- How much does my baby need, Common breast feeding problems & solutions
- Expressing Why, How and When, Practical skills
- Returning to work

Sunday 9 am – 3.30 pm
It is recommended that you attend this class between 30– 36 weeks
For those couples with restricted time, this is the ideal solution. This 6 hour workshop covers all topics included in the 3 week series |

- Labour and pain management.
- Role of support person.
- Birth, interventions, adverse outcomes.
- Postnatal care of mother and baby.
- Basic breast feeding.

- How to be an effective advocate for your partner.

Grandparents class:
Cost $50
Monday 7 – 9 pm
Grandparent play a vital role in the development of their grandchildren |
Make sure your parents are up to date by encouraging their attendance at this one time class.
This informal class will discus the changing role of grandparents. Topics include:
- demand feeding,
- SIDS,
- how things have changed.
- Supporting your children during this period.
- Being a Role Model for grandchild

Childbirth Refresher Class:
Wednesday 10.30 am – 12.30 pm
It is recommended that you attend this session between 32 - 36 weeks |
Have you had a break between children? Can’t remember anything from last time? Then this short refresher will answer all your questions. Topics include a review of labour & Birth, baby-care, SIDS update, breastfeeding, as well as incorporating the new baby into the family and preparation of siblings. |
TENS pain management
3rd Thursday of month 11 am – 12 pm
It is recommended that you attend this session between 35 - 37 weeks
Presented by a Physiotherapist |
Information on the effective use of TENS (Trans Electrical Nerve Stimulation) pain management system during labour. There will be a practical session on how to use.
