Preparing For Your Maternity Admission

Tentative telephone bookings are made by your obstetricians rooms. The information we receive at that time includes: the expected date of birth of your baby, name of your chosen obstetrician and your contact details.

Once this booking is made we will send out the required paperwork for you to complete. Bookings will only be confirmed when the hospital receives the completed paperwork back. Please ensure that these details are either posted or delivered personally to our hospital. Faxed copies of this information are frequently of poor quality and very difficult to read. Blood test results do not have to be available to us at this time.

Following confirmation of your booking, by receipt of the original paperwork, where necessary, you may be contacted by a midwife to discuss your care during your planned stay in our hospital.

Your expected length of stay following vaginal birth is 4-5 days and following a caesarean is 5-7 days.

Bookings fill very quickly, so please book early to avoid disappointment.

If you require any further information in relation to the above please contact the Maternity Unit.

Lactation Consultant
As a new mother/parent you may feel overwhelmed with the changes taking place. Some of these changes may be related to breastfeeding.

At Masada Private Hospital, we offer the opportunity to receive expert support and guidance through consultation with our highly skilled and supportive lactation consultants.

Our service will provide you with further information, advice and reassurance or will link you to other support services if necessary.

A qualified Midwife/Lactation Consultant is available to offer support, assistance and reassurance to you in relation to breastfeeding issues. The Lactation Support Service is to provide a consultation for mothers and their babies up to 12 weeks of age.

When To Contact The Hospital
If you feel fine, remain at home for as long as possible.

If you feel unsure about staying home, ring (03) 9038 1300 and speak to the Maternity staff.

A good guide as to when to come to hospital, if in labour, is:

  • You need to concentrate and not talk whilst you are having a contraction

You MUST ring the hospital:
