Mother Baby Unit
Introduction
While having a baby is traditionally associated with heightened emotions of happiness and excitement, it can also be one of the most stressful. The transition to parenthood brings immense physical, emotional and social upheaval that can be overwhelming for parents at a time when they are also getting to know their new baby. If, in addition, an infant is restless and cries excessively, the burden can become very difficult.
The Masada Private Hospital Mother Baby Unit is a 5 bed/ 5 cot unit encompassing both day stay and residential programs. These programs give parents and infants the opportunity to address problems/difficulties, make positive changes and help with
- Feeding difficulties
- Infant Sleep Disorders
- Irritability
- Reflux and colic
- Maternal Exhaustion
- Maternal anxiety
- Adjusting to parenting
Our highly experienced and specialised multidisciplinary team provides a family centred program that aims to offer supportive personalised care. Parent education sessions and information are adapted to individual family needs in the first year following the birth of their baby.

- Experienced nurses with qualifications in Midwifery, Psychiatry, Counselling
- Lactation consultants
- Maternal Child Health nurses
- Mother Craft Nurses
- Clinical Psychologists
- Paediatricians
These programs give parents the opportunity to
- Address problems and enable them to make changes that become more positive
- Increase parenting satisfaction and empowering coping skills
- Individual therapy is offered to enhance the physical, social and emotional well being of women and their families
- Support parents in their relationship with each other and their baby
