Antony studied medicine at Monash University and received his MBBS in 2004. He was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as a Gastroenterologist in 2011. In 2012, Antony completed an Intestinal Ultrasound Fellowship at the Ospedale Luigi Sacco, Milan, Italy. Antony received a postgraduate research degree in 2016 for work in inflammatory bowel disease.
Antony has made significant contributions to improving clinical and administrative practices in various Melbourne hospitals. His research program focuses on inflammatory bowel disease at The Alfred Hospital and Monash University where he is on staff as a gastroenterologist and Head of the Gandel Foundation Intestinal Ultrasound Unit, Australia’s only dedicated gastrointestinal ultrasound service. Antony won the Alfred Health Innovation Award in 2018 for this work.
Antony is also a member of The Avenue Hospital’s Medical Advisory Committee as well as Epworth’s Gastroenterology and General Surgery Institute Executive Committee, with a particular emphasis on quality metrics in gastroscopy and colonoscopy performance.
