About our Early Parenting Centre

The Masada Early Parenting Centre, previously named the Mother Baby Unit, is a long-standing centre of excellence which offers a state of the art service designed to help parents overcome the physical, emotional and social challenges that a new baby can bring. The name change is in recognition of the diversity of families in the community and to ensure all families seeking to access the service feel welcome.

Mental health & New Mothers

Professor Jane Fisher is an academic Clinical and Health Psychologist and Jean Hailes Professor of Women’s Mental Health in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University. As Consultant Clinical Psychologist to Masada Private Hospital’s Early Parenting Centre she has been a key contributor to both the development and ongoing innovation of the Centre.

Here she talks about some of the struggles new parents find when they first bring baby home and how the Early Parenting Centre gives parents the tools and resources to cope.
