Frequently asked questions

You can contact your Health Fund directly and find out if you have any out of pocket costs for a stay at the Early Parenting Centre. Let them know that it is a medical stay with no item number. Some health funds may have exclusions, excesses or waiting periods. The cost of your stay is dependent on the level of cover you have with your health insurance provider. Alternatively the hospital will do a fund check for you once you have been given a tentative admission date (usually the week prior to admission).

Self-funding is available. Please contact our Bookings Coordinator to request a quote.

Yes, your partner can stay from night 3 of the program. On nights 1 & 2 our staff will settle your baby, this promotes sleep for the parent accompanying the admitted infant. Please note: A boarder fee will be charged each night your partner stays overnight.

If you or any members of your family are currently suffering from symptoms of a cold, gastroenteritis or other illness we request that you do not come into the Centre and a new admission date will be organised.

At any time during your stay if you or your infant become physically unwell it is likely that you will be required to be discharged from the Centre and return when you are well and a bed is available.

The specialist nurses at the Early Parenting Centre will teach sleep and settling skills using techniques appropriate for infants and toddlers up to 2 years of age. Responsive settling is a gentle approach to interpreting your infant’s cries/grizzles and responding to these accordingly to support them in learning the art of drifting off to sleep independently. We work in partnership with you in finding the best way for you and your infant, based on what you are comfortable with, to achieve your goals. This process may vary in length of time, as all infants are unique and individual in their needs.

The Masada Early Parenting Centre is inclusive of family. Partners are encouraged to spend time during your stay in order to participate in all aspects of understanding the strategies for management of your infant and working within your family unit to help you achieve your goals.

Limited free parking is available onsite in our visitors carpark and street parking is available subject to Council time limits - please refer to the Masada Private Hospital Street Parking Map for guidance.

In the interest of other patients and visitors we discourage you from having a car parked onsite for the full duration of your stay.

We have a large range of foods available to you whilst you are in our care and we do accommodate dietary allergies and requirements. However, at times we may not be able to cater to dietary preferences. Please feel free at any time to bring in food and drinks from home or purchase them locally.

We encourage all families to go out for a regular walk, weather permitting.

If you have an appointment scheduled during your stay that you don’t want to cancel please discuss this with staff prior to admission.

Should you no longer require an admission to our Centre please contact the Bookings Coordinator as soon as possible so your place can be offered to another family.

Please DO NOT wait for our triage nurse to contact you on the day of your Pre-Admission Assessment phone interview to cancel or postpone your admission. A $250 cancellation fee will be charged if you cancel once your date of admission has been confirmed, if not for medical reasons.

In the event of you or your infant being unwell please notify the Centre via email as soon as possible so an alternative admission date can be made.
