Masada Private Hospital specialist Tim Hucker

Dr Tim Hucker

Tim Hucker completed his medical training in the UK at the University of London, and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospitals before specialising in anaesthetics. He subsequently trained in pain medicine in London and Sydney, including completing fellowships at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital (Sydney) and St George’s Hospital (London). Tim has a particular interest in neuropathic and skeletal pain, conservative and interventional management, and as the clinical lead for pain at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, practices up-to-date medical and interventional cancer pain management. Tim sees private, WorkCover and TAC patients in his rooms, and public cancer pain patients at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre.

Tim moved to Australia permanently in 2011 to take up a Fellowship position at Melbourne’s Alfred Hospital, later becoming Principal Fellow. He has also undertaken fellowships in palliative care, paediatric and adult intensive care, and regional anaesthesia.

In addition to being a pain specialist, Tim is an examiner for the faculty of pain medicine, a lecturer at Monash University, a published author of scientific papers and book chapters on pain medicine and the chair of the working party for adult cancer pain management guidelines at the Cancer Council, Australia. Tim lectures at national conferences on cancer and chronic pain management.

Tim believes a patient-centred and personalised pain management plan will allow his patients to have the best quality of life they can.  He also believes in a team approach and liaises regularly with his patients’ treating specialists, GPs and allied health providers such as physiotherapists and psychologists.

Tim has moved his practice from Richmond to work in association with the Melbourne Pain Group, an experienced and well-established group pain practice in Victoria.
